Payroll administrator
Sterling Partners are looking for a full-time payroll executive/administrator to join their practice in their Manchester office performing a spectrum of activities in their payroll department. The candidate would be joining a diverse, young, friendly team of 10+ who have ranging experience & qualifications.
Role responsibilities:
- Processing of client’s payroll including RTI submissions
- Maintains payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data
- Registration of client’s for PAYE
- Registration of client’s for pensions with various pension providers
- Able to deal with auto-enrolment requirements
- Registration and submission of CIS records
- Saving payroll reports as PDFs
- Organising own client portfolio
- Preparation and submission of P11D benefits through payroll
- Computes employee take-home pay based on time records, pensions, benefits, and taxes
- Answering client’s questions about wages, deductions, maternity/paternity pay, sick leave, pensions, etc
- Handling tax code changes
- Adheres to payroll policies and procedures and complies with relevant law
- Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records
- Phone calls to HMRC
- Adding clients to our HMRC PAYE portal
- Honours confidentiality of client’s pay records
- Completes payroll reports for record-keeping purposes
- Determines client’s tax obligations by calculating national and council taxes as well as National Insurance contributions
- Performs the distribution of wages through direct transfers to client’s bank accounts
- Supervises other payroll clerks and employees as needed
- Raising payroll invoices in SAGE
- Printing and sending/emailing payslips to clients
- Year-end processing for portfolio i.e. P60s
- Processing of P45s
Qualifications/experience:
- Use of IRIS Earnie (preferred)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in Excel, Word and other standard IT packages
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Experience as a payroll administrator (2 years)
- Experience working in an accountancy firm (preferred)
